We use popovers when there are a few more options to show and we don’t want to change the view.

Popovers are launched from toolbar buttons or a piece of content and they can be closed by tapping anywhere outside of the popover area.

You should consider whether your user might want to do multiple things in a popover, or a single task. If they are likely to interact once, then the popover should automatically close afterwards, otherwise you should consider letting the user close the popover themselves by tapping outside for example.

  • Height is flexible, depending on the amount of content.
  • Width is fixed.
  • Positioning is automatic.
