People allow us to talk about our services, products allow us to talk about our… products.
To date we have used imagery from our partners. It is a mishmash of styles, treatments and focus.
We will standardise the way product shots are made, thus creating a consistent style.
Ubuntu as the hero
We have developed a style for photographing our operating system.
We make Ubuntu the focus and any device should be shot with strong verticals and horizontals; the lighting is gradating from left to right.
Product in support
On specification sheets or certification sites we have an alternative style which provides an equal balance of Ubuntu and device.
Retaining strong verticals, in this case we have turned the product creating an angled shot. The angle is specific and allows the product to sit on top of our dot patterns.
Ubuntu on glossy displays
For devices with glossy displays, a semi-transparent diagonal white gradient should be applied to the top right corner of the screen, as shown in the examples above.
Using the dots in product photography
Both the enterprise and developer dots can be used in conjunction with product photography. See the section on dot patterns in order to learn about when each type of dot is appropriate.
